Content Description

This collection of material is about Raymond ("Ray") Burr Lewis, Town Marshal for Castle Rock in 1946 who was murdered by Manuel Blanco Perez at the B&B Cafe in Castle Rock. He was killed while trying to apprehend Perez inside the restaurant where he had stopped to eat. (Perez was a fugitive at the time, wanted for shooting two police officers in Denver.) Items include a colorized photo portrait of Ray Lewis (reproduced as copy-stand negatives and multiple archival prints) and one issue of Timely Detective Cases magazine (cover missing, but date circa 1946) which contains the article "Bullet Bargainer: Two Shots Spelled Freedom; The Third Meant Doom" by Ray Humphreys, chief investigator for the Denver District Attorney's Office.
