1937 Douglas County aerial photograph collection, 1992.908
The 1937 Douglas County Aerial Photograph Collection (Aerials DC 1937) contains 184 prints and corresponding negatives covering eastern and central Douglas County, Colorado. These photoprints were produced by the Agricultural Adjustment Administration, Western Division Laboratory. The Agricultural Adjustment Administration was the predecessor of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Soil Conservation Service. The aerial photoprints were taken to document the land use of agricultural land following the Dust Bowl era and the advent of farming and soil conservation programs by the USDA.
Letter from Johanna Harden dated Nov. 11, 2001 indicates the photoprints were given to the Douglas County assessor's office after 1960. Prior to 1985, they were given to the Douglas County Library. The items were transferred to the DPLD Local History Collection.
