Allan J. Koch Cherokee Ranch Science Institute collection, 2010-2019
Scope and Content
This collection documents the activities of the Cherokee Ranch Science Institute (CRSI), which conducts research and provides science-related educational programming at the Cherokee Ranch and Castle Foundation in Sedalia, Colorado. The Institute was founded in 2013 by retired geologist Dr. Allan J. Koch, who donated these materials shortly before he passed away in 2019. This is a curated collection of CRSI materials intended for public use, containing no archival records of the Institute. The collection consists entirely of born-digital items, including presentations, abstracts, maps, and research papers about the geology, archaeology, and history of the region around Cherokee Ranch in Douglas County.
Access and Use
This collection is open to researchers via digital access copies available online. Access to the master files of born-digital collections is restricted. See https://archives.dcl.org for more information and hours of operation.
Allan J. Koch (1943-2019), better known as “Al,” grew up in Iowa where he was a star basketball player and student athlete at Iowa State University.
